Final day tons for Richards and van Schalkwyk
Juan Mpofu and Brian Kershaw shared nine wickets as the VKB Knights made it five wins in a row at the expense of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on the final day of the CSA Franchise Cubs Week at Stellenbosch on Monday.
The Dolphins had been the other unbeaten side going into the final day and it looked as though they had a good chance of coming out on top when they bowled the Knights out for 134 but they in turn were dismissed for 106 to give the Knights victory by 28 runs.
The other two matches were high-scoring affairs with both Louis van Schalkwyk – his second of the week – and Joshua Richards, who has been consistently in the runs, scoring centuries for the bizhub Highveld Lions. Their total of 256/5 proved well beyond the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras as they won by 46 runs.
The Multiply Titans, after making 232/6 with Francois van Heerden and Glen Groenewald both making 60s, only just managed to beat the Warriors by five runs in a desperately close finish. Sinethemba Qeshile, who has been another consistent contributor throughout the week, made 42 and Emihle Mgoqi 64 at the top of the order.
